"The City Archives houses, on deposit from the Civil District Court, all records of the Orleans Parish civil courts (1804-1926). The City Archives also holds the records of the Orleans Parish criminal courts (1830-1931)." The archives are found at the Loyola branch of the New Orleans Public Library, and the indexing "for most of the Orleans Parish civil courts is available either in published volumes or on microfilm. In addition, Louisiana Division/City Archives staff and volunteers have prepared indexes for several courts that came to the Archives with no extant indexing."
